Watch This Minivan Get Trashed by 35 Tons of Garbage
It fouled up traffic.
Sept. 25, 2014 -- Two drivers were sent to the hospital after a garbage truck tipped on its side, spilling up to 70,000 pounds of trash onto a minivan at an intersection of a Georgia roadway, according to the Cherokee County Fire Department.
“When I first pulled up [to the incident] I couldn’t even see the car,” a spokesperson for the fire department told ABC News. “It was covered up with so much trash they couldn’t even tell there was a car underneath it.”
The truck, fully loaded with garbage, attempted to make a right turn when it toppled onto the driver’s side around 10 a.m. ET, officials said. A Honda minivan, pulling up to a red light alongside the truck, got stuck underneath the trash.
Officials removed the driver of the minivan, a 39-year-old female, from the passenger’s side of the car which was reportedly the only side visible from beneath the debris.
Both drivers were sent to Northside Cherokee Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The owner of the trucking company, Moreno Trucking, told the Georgia State Patrol that the trucks usually haul from 70,000 to 78,000 pounds each trip, according to officials.
Officials were working to clean the trash from the highway.
