Human Cannonball Marks Milestone at Philadelphia Circus Show
A Minnesota woman flies through air at 66 miles per hour.
-- A 25-year-old woman has marked a unique milestone: her 500th time shooting herself out of a cannonball.
At Philadelphia's Circus XTREME show Saturday, Gemma Kirby became a human cannonball, and, in front of 5,000 people, shot out of the cannon at 66 miles per hour.
After three seconds in the air, she landed safely on a cushion about 100 feet away.
Kirby describes the experience as "like the most intense roller coaster you've ever tried to ride on, times 10, with no seatbelt. So you're completely untethered."
Kirby, a Minnesota native, travels with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, according to LinkedIn.
