3 Injured in Partial Ceiling Collapse at Nightclub From 'Purple Rain'

-- The ceiling of a Minnesota nightclub seen in the 1984 movie “Purple Rain” partially collapsed Wednesday, injuring three people.
The incident occurred at 10:15 p.m. at First Avenue in Minneapolis. A 30-foot-by-30-foot section of the ceiling gave way and collapsed during a concert, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.
Two of the people injured were hospitalized, and none of the injuries appear life-threatening, officials said.
The club has been a popular music venue since the early 1970s, helping to launch the careers of local acts as the Replacements, Soul Asylum and Semisonic. Sections of the 1984 Prince film “Purple Rain” were also filmed there, including the movie’s opening and closing songs.
