KFC Says Deep-Fried Rat Claim is a Hoax
A man has taken to social media, accusing KFC of serving him a deep fried rat.
-- Can deep frying make foods take suspicious shapes?
Devorise Dixon, a 25-year-old California man, has taken to Facebook to share pictures and a video of what he is claiming to be a deep-fried rat he was served by the popular fast food chain KFC. The images and video have since gone viral.
The images — posted publicly on Dixon's page — clearly display the alleged "rat" coated with what appears to be KFC breading — and what looks like a distinct tail.
In the post Dixon wrote that he spoke to the manager at the KFC outlet who, he said, admitted that Dixon was served a rat — and even apologized. In his post he went on to advise people to avoid eating fast food at all.
KFC told ABC News it “has made various attempts to contact this customer, but he is refusing to talk to us directly or through an attorney. Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and we currently have no evidence to support this allegation.” The chain went on to say that other photos posted by Dixon “clearly" show “it’s a piece of hand-breaded white meat chicken."
KFC further said that Dixon has refused to cooperate in an investigation or allow an independent lab to evaluate the product at KFC's expense.
ABC News has reached out to Devorise Dixon for comment through Facebook, but Dixon did not immediately respond.
