Kid Saves Dad From Estimated 80 MPH Foul Ball at Giants Game
It was the catch of a lifetime, literally.
-- It was the catch of a lifetime for a boy who spared his father possible injury at Sunday’s Giants game at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
John Pizzi Jr., 10, was caught on camera catching an estimated 80-mph foul ball in the game’s second inning that was headed straight for dad John Pizzi Sr.’s face.
“My dad turned around to get our food we had ordered and then the ball was coming at him. I didn’t really know it was going at him; I was just looking forward to catching the ball,” John told ABC News. “He turned around, I showed him the ball in the mitt and he started laughing.”
His father, 38, had a sense of humor about the whole thing.
“He’s been teasing me pretty much since it happened and he’s had a lot of fun with it,” John Sr. told ABC News. “My commitment to playing catch with my son has paid off.”
