The woman was taken to Mt. Sinai hospital in critical condition and delivered a premature baby, police said.

The baby was listed in stable condition, according to police.

The woman, identified as 26-year-old Karla Leanos by the Cook County Coronor's Office, died around 10:30 p.m. at the hospital.

Police have not publicly released the woman's name.

Garcia was charged with one felony count of aggravated DUI/accident/death; one felony count of leaving the scene of accident-injury/death; two misdemeanor counts of DUI; as well as two citations, police said Sunday.

Garcia appeared in court Sunday and his bond was set at $750,000. He was assigned a public defender, the courts said. The public defender's office didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
