Miami Doctor Lashes Out at Uber Driver, Confrontation Caught on Camera
The doctor been placed on "administrative leave" by the Jackson Health System.
-- A woman who was caught on camera in an altercation with an Uber driver has been identified by her employer as a fourth-year neurology resident in Miami.
Anjali Ramkissoon allegedly jumped into an Uber car that she did not order, according to the driver and the customer who requested the Uber ride. She can also be seen in the video berating the driver, trying to hit him, and throwing items out of the window of the passenger seat, and ultimately trying to knee the driver.
The customer who ordered the Uber car filmed the heated incident on his cellphone and posted the video on YouTube on Sunday.
In the video, Ramkissoon is seen berating the driver. "I'm a 5-foot girl that weighs 100 pounds. I'm getting really like belligerent right now," she says as the clash ensues.
Ramkissoon has been placed on administrative leave and removed from all clinical duties, her employer, the Jackson Health System, said in a statement. An internal investigation is underway to "determine if any disciplinary action will be taken, up to and including termination," a hospital spokesperson told ABC News on Thursday.
Miami Police told ABC News there was no incident report, nor was she arrested.
When contacted by ABC News for comment, Ramkissoon responded via Instagram, "My employer has asked that I not make any public statements at this time."
Uber told ABC News they’ve suspended Ramkissoon’s account while the incident is investigated.
"Uber expects everyone in our community to treat each other with respect and common courtesy, and we have a zero tolerance policy for any form of harassment and abuse," a spokesperson said Thursday in a statement.
