On-Flight Brawl Among 5 Passengers Caught on Camera
There were no arrests or charges, according to the FBI.
-- A fight broke out over loud music from a boombox on a Spirit Airlines flight from Baltimore to Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday morning, authorities and an airline official said.
Two women "who appeared to be intoxicated" began playing loud music before Flight 141 landed at LAX, said Spirit Airlines spokesman Paul Berry.
When several passenger requested that the women turn down their music, Berry said, one of the women responded, "What are you going to do?"
The women then raised the boombox in the air, taunting other fliers, Berry said, adding, "This prompted the second group of customer [sic] to approach the first group, and a fight broke out" involving five women.
This took place while the flight was taxiing, and it was captured on video by another passenger.
At the time, the plane's flight attendants were strapped in their seats, as federally mandated.
Berry said that when flight attendants saw the fight begin, they intervened.
The FBI told ABC News today that its personnel were asked to respond and met the flight at the gate when it arrived in Los Angeles.
Airport police spoke with all five women for about an hour and then released them, according to Spirit.
Despite the brawl, no one was arrested or charged, according to the FBI.
