Missing Actress Mabel Pantaleon Has Manic Depression Disorder
Mable Pantaleon has a history of manic depression, her mother says.
July 26, 2012 -- A budding New York actress who has appeared on "Dexter" and is said to have a history of manic-depressive disorder has been missing for four days after accosting her family and accusing them of being terrorists.
Mabel Pantaleon, 31, vanished on Sunday after she was last seen at her Manhattan apartment on W. 157th Street. The woman's mother told ABC News that her daughter was on medication but she believes the young actress stopped taking it.
"She was staying with me. She saw something on the Internet and got very upset, and she started saying a lot of weird things," Sylvia Pantaleon told ABC News.
"She said, 'I'm leaving from here, all of you are terrorists, you're not my mother. I knew it wasn't her," Sylvia said.
Her mother said that Pantaleon, who was featured in a small role on the hit Showtime series "Dexter," was drawn to acting and had moved to California. She soon came back to stay in her apartment for a year before moving to an apartment on 45th Street, her mother said. But Pantaleon had lost her apartment and recently began staying with her mother again.
Pantaleon, who studied at the New York City College of Technology before pursuing acting, finished second runner-up at the Miss Latina New York USA Pageant in 2003, according to her IMDB profile.
Her mother told ABC News that she called the police as soon as her daughter vanished Sunday, but wasn't able to officially report her missing until the initial 24-hour period since her disappearance had passed.
She also said that her daughter did not have a boyfriend at the time she disappeared.
"That was one of her problems. She doesn't have friends, she doesn't have boyfriends," she said.
In addition to appearing as a server on "Dexter" in 2008, that same year she portrayed a nurse on the Discovery Health Channel reality series "Mystery ER." She launched her acting career on the same network's "Untold Stories of the ER" series in 2006, then went on to appear in feature films including "Choose Connor," "Double Down" and "The Gleam."
Police seeking assistance in finding Pantaleon say that she was wearing a shirt reading "Drake," and may be driving a 2004 Toyota Camry. According to her mother she was wearing black pants.
Pantaleon is 5-foot7, weighs 165 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
