Nik Wallenda Completes Death-Defying Skyscraper Wire Walks
The daredevil completed a death-defying double walk in Chicago.
— -- Nik Wallenda overcame some death-defying double trouble Sunday.
The daredevil, 35, achieved two world records with two walks between skyscraper towers in Chicago, all without a harness or net.
Oh -- he also wore a blindfold for one of his walks.
Wallenda crossed a distance of 454 feet from one skyscraper to another, all at a 19-degree incline, an angle four degrees steeper than the 15-degree practice tightrope. The tightrope began at 588 feet from the ground and ended at 671 feet.
"That cable looked like it was going straight up," he said.
The second leg of his performance featured a 94-foot walk between two towers, blindfolded and 543 feet from the ground.
Wallenda is part of the seventh generation of the Flying Wallendas stunt performers. Sunday’s stunts represented some of his greatest career accomplishments, along with a 2012 Niagara Falls crossing and 2013 walk at the Grand Canyon.
