Winning Ticket for $540 Million Jackpot Sold in Indiana
Friday's drawing was the 35th since Mega Millions had a winner in March.
-- A winning ticket for Friday's $540 million Mega Millions jackpot was sold in Indiana, according to the California Lottery.
"Congrats to the one #MegaMillions jackpot winner in Indiana," California Lottery tweeted early Saturday morning, following Friday's draw.
The numbers drawn Friday night at 11 p.m. ET were 20, 19, 55, 73 and 8. The megaball is 5.
According to Hoosier Lottery, the ticket was sold at a Speedway gas station near Interstate 70 in Cambridge City, which is about 50 miles east of Indianapolis.
The previous Friday's Mega Millions jackpot was $415 million, but after no winning ticket emerged, the jackpot jumped to $449 million on Tuesday. Then, with still no winning ticket declared, the jackpot eventually rose to Friday's $540 million.
Paula Otto, executive director of the Virginia Lottery and lead director for Mega Millions, said sales leading up to Friday's drawing exceeded expectations.
It was the 35th drawing since Mega Millions had a winner — the longest rollover stretch in the game's history.
Mega Millions ticket sales have exceeded $1 billion since March, when the last winner was declared.
Tickets are sold in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
