Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Passenger Spots Fuel Leaking From Wing
The crew declared an emergency due to a loose fuel cap.
-- A plane was forced to make an emergency landing this morning because of a loose fuel cap, authorities said.
ExpressJet Airlines Flight 2762, an American Eagle flight bound for Dallas-Fort Worth, landed in Huntsville after the crew reported the issue, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Passenger Adam Hensley told ABC News that a man sitting behind him noticed fuel leaking out of the wing and alerted a flight attendant, who contacted the captain.
According to Hensley, the captain emerged from the cockpit to take a look, then decided to divert the plane.
“The flight crew did an amazing job,” Hensley said. “There was no panic.”
The flight “landed safely without incident,” ExpressJet told ABC News. “We are accommodating the 41 passengers on a replacement aircraft. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”
