Record-Breaking Red Snapper Caught Off the Coast of Texas
Joey Beaver caught a Texas-sized snapper that weighed in at 38.75 pounds.
-- Joey Beaver reeled in more than just a big catch when he caught a 38.75-pound red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico last month: he earned himself a title.
The fish has been verified by the Texas Parks and Wildlife as breaking the water body's record and they awarded the 28-year-old fisherman with a certificate confirming that the June 1 catch was 40 inches long.
The Victoria, Texas-based fisherman said that he caught the snapper about five miles off shore near Port O'Connor, which is between Corpus Christi and Galveston.
