"I am very sad that people lost their lives," the relative said.

— -- The brother-in-law of one of the suspects in the massacre in San Bernardino, California that left 14 dead Wednesday said he was in "shock."

"I am very sad that people lost their lives," he said.

Two of the suspects -- a man and woman -- led police on a pursuit and died in a gun battle. Farook, 28 and a woman with whom he was in a relationship, Tashfeen Malik, 27, were identified by police early Thursday morning as the suspects.

The motive for the attack remained unclear.

Some 14 people were injured in addition to those killed.

"I wish speedy recovery to them," Khan said.

"I have no idea why he would do that."
