See a Scary Near-Miss Highway Accident

A police cam recorded a near miss on a Connecticut highway.

— -- A near-miss collision on a Connecticut highway was recorded on a state police dash cam and shows how two people came just inches from being slammed.

The incident happened early this morning. Two cars involved in an earlier accident were on the highway's shoulder when a third vehicle crashed into one of the cars.

State troopers said they were responding to calls about a two-vehicle crash on I-95 near Fairfield, Conn.

A trooper spotted a Nissan Maxima veering dramatically "at a high rate of speed," according to a Connecticut state police press release.

The Maxima came "within inches of the cruiser in the right shoulder and violently striking one of the vehicles involved in the original two-vehicle accident," the release said.

The driver of the Maxima, identified as 21-year-old Yoni Rojas, was charged with endangerment, reckless driving and other driving related charges. He was held on $2,500 bond.

Rojas suffered minor injuries but no one involved in the earlier crash was injured, according to state police.
