Search for Pickup Truck in Colorado Killing, Related Shooting Attempt

Officials are looking for a faded-orange truck.

— -- Authorities in Colorado are searching for an orange pickup truck they believe to be connected with a series of apparently random roadside shootings.

The pickup – described as a 1970s’ full-size, single-cab Chevrolet or GMC – was visible near the scene of a June 3 killing in Loveland, and an attempted shooting the same night about 2 miles away. William Connole, 65, was fatally shot while walking near his home.

A sketch of the pickup truck was released Tuesday.

Larimer County sheriff's spokesman David Moore said the two Loveland cases are likely connected. But investigators so far have nothing to link them to two other nearby roadside shootings around the same time.

The various cases have raised alarm that a serial shooter might be trolling the area's roads.

In one of the shootings, on May 18, a bicyclist, John Jacoby, was found dead along a rural road in Windsor. In another, on April 22, Cori Romero received a gunshot wound to the neck while driving.

Police have said those two cases are linked by evidence, but the nature of that evidence has not been revealed.

A reward for tips in the case has been raised to $20,000.
