Slain Dallas Police Officer Eulogized in Funeral Today

Michael Krol's funeral is the fourth this week for a Dallas officer.

The private service for Krol is underway today at Prestonwood Baptist Church Mortuary, but he will be laid to rest in his home state of Michigan Tuesday, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The hundreds who attended Krol's funeral today included many law enforcement officers from around the country. Krol was also commemorated with an honor guard ceremony.

Krol worked at the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in Michigan prior to joining the Dallas Police Department. He was "living his dream of being a police officer,” Krol's mother told reporters last week.

Family members told the Detroit Free Press that Krol was single and had no children, but had a girlfriend in Dallas, whom he had texted the night of the protest to say everything was going peacefully.

It has been a tumultuous week for Dallas. Today's service is the fourth police funeral to take place in the city this week. Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, Sgt. Michael Smith and Officer Brent Thompson were laid to rest Thursday.

The burial service for Officer Patricio E. Zamarripa will be held Saturday, and a visitation and rosary will take place tonight at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center in Fort Worth.
