Stolen Goat Named 'Donkey' Reunited With Owners Days After South Carolina Theft

Donkey was taken while his owners were eating at a restaurant, police said

— -- They got their goat.

The goat's owners brought Donkey on their truck to a restaurant on Front Street on Saturday, according to Georgetown Police Sgt. Shannon Burbage.

After letting him out for a while, the owners put him back inside his crate while going inside to eat.

"When they came back out later that night the goat was missing," Burbage said.

On Wednesday afternoon, a neighbor found the goat wandering around their backyard.

"They just called and said, 'Hey, we've got a goat in our backyard,'" Burbage said.

Later that day, the little guy was reunited with his owners.

"The goat named Donkey, was recovered and reunited with its owner," police said in a Facebook post. "Donkey was so excited to see his master, all he could say was I’m baaaaaaaack."

Police said they did not know whether the goat's theft was a prank.

"It was definitely a first," Burbage said.
