DHS Official Accused of Sending Porn to a Minor
April 4, 2006 -- A deputy press secretary for the Department of Homeland Security was arrested today on 23 charges related to the use of a computer to seduce a child and transmitting harmful materials to a minor.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office said the official, Brian J. Doyle, contacted a 14-year-old girl last month whose profile was posted on the Internet, and initiated a sexually explicit conversation with her.
The girl was actually an undercover Polk County Sheriff's Office computer crimes detective.
Authorities said Doyle knew the girl was 14 years old, and he told her who he was and that he worked for the Department of Homeland Security.
"We take these allegations very seriously and we will cooperate fully with this ongoing investigation," said DHS Press Secretary Russ Knocke.
