Sgt. Michael G. Owen, 31, of Phoenix, Ariz., died in Karabilah, Iraq, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

Sgt. Christopher S. Potts, 38, of Tiverton, R.I., died in Taji, Iraq, as his unit was conducting traffic control operations and enemy forces attacked them using small arms fire.

Sgt. Russell L. Collier, 48, of Harrison, Ark., died in Taji, Iraq. His unit was conducting traffic control operations when enemy forces attacked them using small arms fire.

Sgt. Michael A. Uvanni, 27, of Rome, N.Y., died in Samarra, Iraq, as he was conducting combat operations and was shot by a sniper.

Sgt. Jack T. Hennessy, 21, of Naperville, Ill., died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his checkpoint came under small arms fire.

Pfc. Michael M. Carey, 20, of Prince George, Va., died in Iraq. He apparently fell into a canal and did not resurface. His remains were recovered on May 18.

Staff Sgt. William D. Chaney, 59, of Schaumburg, Ill., died in Landstuhl, Germany, due to a non-combat related injury. Initial reports indicate that Chaney was medically evacuated from Iraq to Germany for surgery due to a sudden medical condition. He died from complications after surgery.

Staff Sgt. Joseph P. Garyantes, 34, of Rehoboth, Del., died by sniper fire in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, while on a combat patrol.

Spc. Marcos O. Nolasco, 34, of Chino, Calif., died in Baji, Iraq, as a result of an electrocution accident.
