Principal Accused of Sex Assault, Photographing Boy

Jan. 30, 2008 — -- An elementary school principal in Texas was arrested Tuesday for sexually abusing a boy he once tutored after a suspicious colleague feared he was "getting way too close" to another young student, police said.

Recently promoted Michael Alcoser, 41, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. The charges stem from allegations that he molested and photographed a 13-year-old boy inside the school and at his home two years ago.

The boy, now 15, had kept the secret until one of Alcoser's colleagues called the boy's mother a week ago to say that she was concerned that Alcoser was "getting way too close" to another male student at the school, according to police. The colleague also told the mother that she had heard a rumor about Alcoser and her son.

The mother, who knew Alcoser as her son's math tutor, reportedly asked the boy whether Alcoser had done anything inappropriate with him. The boy finally confessed that he had.

Authorities then interviewed the boy, who told them that the suspect had assaulted him when he was in fourth grade, fondling him and performing oral sex on him, according to the department's arrest affidavit. The boy told police that Alcoser also took a short video of him wearing only a T-shirt and underpants and that he saw images of other boys on the camera, according to the affidavit.

The boy also told authorities that Alcoser had taken him and his brother to a entertainment center. From there, the boy told police, Alcoser brought the two to his San Antonio house.

"While there the suspect told the brother to play on the computer and took the complainant to his bedroom and locked the door," the police affidavit reads. "He showed the complainant some underwear that looked like 'Speedos' for kids." Alcoser allegedly had the boy put on one of the Speedos and photographed him again.

San Antonio police quickly recovered several pictures of the boy as well as other unidentified children at Alcoser's San Antonio house. They also found additional evidence of child pornography.

"I discovered two pornography CDs that depicted adult men having sex with adolescent male children," Kimberly Bower, an investigator for the San Antonio Police Department Sex Crimes Unit, wrote in the affidavit.

School administrators for the South San Antonio Independent School District sent a letter to parents Monday announcing that Alcoser had been put on administrative leave pending the outcome of the police investigation.

Alcoser was arrested Tuesday at a San Antonio hospital where he was being treated for an unknown medical condition. He offered no comment to reporters as he was led by authorities to and from the courtroom. No one answered calls made to his San Antonio home.

Alcoser was released on $75,000 bond, according to Ralph Serrano, manager of the records for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. He is scheduled to be in court Feb. 26.

A San Antonio Police Department spokesman told ABC News the investigation into Alcoser is ongoing.
