Teacher Quits After Porn Incident
Teacher resigns after allegedly showing porn to 13 students on classroom screen.
Sept. 12, 2008 -- A high school teacher who was placed on paid administrative leave after inadvertently allowing students to view pornography on a classroom screen has resigned.
The Scottsdale Unified School District said Forrest Martin, a photography teacher at Arcadia High for about the last five years, submitted his resignation letter Wednesday.
Monday's incident is under investigation by district officials and Phoenix police, according to Jeff Thomas, district director of human resources.
A letter released by the school informing parents about the incident said that 13 students reportedly viewed the inappropriate material.
Martin told police he was unaware that his computer setup would display the material to students on an overhead projector screen.
Thomas said the students viewed the images, which appeared to be adult pornography, for several minutes.
