Gunman Opens Fire in Dallas Office

D A L L A S, Aug. 17, 2000 -- One man is dead after a gunman shot him and then turned the gun on himself during an apparent dispute in a Dallas law office.

The shooting took place in a multistorybuilding three miles north of downtown Dallas.

Dallas Police Lt. David Payne said the shooting apparently involved aproperty dispute.

Payne says the two men were meeting with an attorney, when oneof the men pulled a pistol, shot the other man, then fatally shothimself.

Nobody else was hurt.

The wounded man has been transported to Parkland Hospital inDallas, in undetermined condition.

Payne says employees of the law office scrambled to get awaywhen the gunfire broke out. Some hid in a bathroom.
