1. Temperatures Soar in Midwest

Temperatures reached record highs at or near 100 degrees in Denver, and if Chicago hits temperatures in the 90s today, it will tie the longest period to reach those kinds of highs this early in the season since the 1800s. The heat wave will move into the northeast by Wednesday.

2. Roger Clemens Acquitted

Roger Clemens, one of the most accomplished pitchers in baseball history, was acquitted of all charges that he lied to Congress, saying he did not use steroids or human growth hormones during his career on Monday.

3. Obama's Iraq Ambassador Pick Withdraws

Brett McGurk, the Obama administration's pick for the next ambassador to Iraq is withdrawing his nomination due to concerns that he was involved in improper behavior while he was working at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad in 2008.

4. Zimmerman Feared for Wife's Life

Jailhouse calls to his wife made by George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who killed Trayvon Martin, were released on Monday. Zimmerman -- who has been back in jail for almost a month -- told his wife Shellie to buy bulletproof vests for them and his attorney.

5. Microsoft Unveils Tablet

Microsoft has unveiled the Surface, a tablet computer that comes with a kickstand and a cover that doubles as a keyboard.
