1. Wildfires Threaten Homes in the West

Fire crews were fighting two raging wildfires in Northern California on Monday night that has chased nearly 500 people from their homes. The Walker Fire has burned about 11 square miles in an unpopulated area since Sunday afternoon. Officials began allowing residents to return late Monday.

2. US to Buy Meat, Fish to Help Farms Hit By Drought

The government will buy up to $170 million of pork, chicken, lamb and catfish in an effort to help farmers struggling with the drought, the White House said. President Obama campaigned to rural voters in Iowa on Monday.

3. Police Identify Texas A&M Shooter as Thomas Caffall

Police identified the gunman whose attack near the Texas A&M University campus left three people dead, including himself, as 35-year-old Thomas Caffall. He killed two before turning the gun on himself on Monday.

4. Facebook Adds 'Expecting a Baby' as New Timeline Feature

Facebook announced Monday that it will add "expecting a baby" to a life event on the social networking site's timeline. Users will be able to allow their friends to know when they're expecting a child, in addition to options like getting married or buying a house.

5. Taylor Swift Announces New Album

Country megastar Taylor Swift announced she is releasing her fourth studio album called "Red." She revealed to ABC News that her new single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" was "one of the most hilarious experiences I have ever had in the studio."
