1. Tropical Storm Sandy to Head North

Tropical Storm Sandy is forecast to move north later today and become a Category 1 hurricane over Jamaica on Wednesday with winds of up to 80 miles per hour. From Thursday to Friday, Sandy is forecast to be at its closest point to the southern tip of Florida, though its strength at that time is uncertain.

2. Final Debate Big Night for Social Media

The final presidential debate at Lynn University was another big night for social media. According to Twitter, about 6.5 million tweets were sent out regarding the debate. The peak moment was at about 9:45 p.m. EDT with 105,767 tweets per minute when President Obama said "we also have fewer horses and bayonets."

3. Gas Down 13 Cents From Last Week

The weekly average price of a gallon of regular gas is $3.69, down 13 cents from one week ago. This is the largest national week-over-week decline in gas prices since November 2008, according to the Department of Energy. This price is still 23 cents higher than a year ago.

4. Tornado Touches Down in California

A tornado touched down about 40 miles outside of Sacramento, California on Monday, but only minor damage has been reported. A meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Sacramento says several other funnel clouds were reported by none of them touched down.

5. FDA Investigating Heart Attacks Linked to Energy Drink

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says it is investigating reports of five deaths and a non-fatal heart attack linked to Monster Energy Drinks, a popular and highly caffeinated beverage. Monster says it does not believe its products are the cause of any deaths.
