Colorado authorities called on thousands of more people in Boulder and a mountain hamlet to evacuate as nearby creeks rose to dangerous levels with rain still falling.

3. Firefighters Make Stand Against NJ Boardwalk Blaze

Firefighters dug a trench and tore out a section of Jersey Shore boardwalk in Seaside Park, New Jersey in an effort to prevent a wind-whipped blaze from jumping to an area just rebuilt after Superstorm Sandy.
