1. Legendary Actor Mickey Rooney Dead at 93

Mickey Rooney, one of the longest-tenured actors in movie history, died Sunday at the age of 93. Rooney appeared in hundreds of movies, from silent films in the 1920s to recent blockbusters such as “The Muppets” and “Night at the Museum.”

2. Signals Detected in Search for Flight 370

One of the vessels searching the southern Indian Ocean has detected signals “consistent with those emitted from airplane black boxes,” retired Australia Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston said at a Monday press conference – the most promising lead in the search for doomed Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

3. Pistorius Trial Resumes, Defense Opens Case

The defense in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial opened its case on Monday, calling a pathologist in an effort to cast doubt on the prosecution's assertion that girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp ate no more than two hours before the double-amputee runner killed her.
