Trump Goes After Carson as 'Super Low Energy' and Says Iowa Polls are 'Wrong'
Trump went on the offensive against Dr. Ben Carson.
-- Donald Trump took off the gloves against Ben Carson Friday night in Miami, breaking his rule of not attacking the neurosurgeon and saying that he was "super low energy."
The remarks came after polls showed that Carson had taken a lead against him in the key state of Iowa -- polls that Trump slammed as being "wrong." According to the new Iowa polls from Quinnipiac and Bloomberg, Carson is leading Trump by 9 – 10 points.
Trump stole an old attack line he’s been using on Jeb Bush and recycled it for Carson.
"Ben Carson is the one that’s leading IA supposedly...But I said but Ben Carson is super low energy, right? He’s super low," he said. "Super low energy. We need tremendous energy. We need tremendous energy.”
Trump went through the polls -– the ones that showed him with a commanding lead –- trying to justify his stance as the frontrunner.
He said he loves Iowa but “honestly think the polls are wrong."
"They say in the poll I’m the best leader, they say in the poll I’m the best on the economy by far, it’s not by like 2 points it’s by triple, how important is the economy, remember the economy, remember that, it’s the economy stupid, it’s the economy, so I’m leading on the economy.
"I’m leading with men big league I’m not doing as well with women, will you help me."
Even when he backed off Carson and started attacking Hillary Clinton, saying she couldn’t negotiate with China like he could, Trump again turned his sights to the retired neurosurgeon.
"They can’t do that, they can’t do that. I mean honestly Ben Carson cannot do that folks," he said. "I hate to tell, cannot do that, can’t do it. They’re not going to do it.”
At one point, he even imitated a news anchor in discussing the new polls.
“We have a breaking story, Donald Trump has fallen to second place behind Ben Carson," he said. "We informed Ben but he was sleeping.”
