-- Police in Central California captured the moment a gigantic sinkhole opened up in a residential neighborhood Monday evening.
The police department in Madera, just outside Fresno, posted the 47-second video to its official Facebook page showing a large portion of the roadway collapsing.
Police said the road fell into a sewage line, creating a hole 15 to 20 feet deep.
It's unknown what exactly caused the damage but it could have been the result of recent rain storms, according to police.
The roadway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time for repair.
