Gov. Jan Brewer Accepts Donations to Defend Arizona Illegal Immigration Law: Will You Donate?

July 7, 2010 -- After the Justice Department filed its lawsuit Tuesday, charging that the Arizona state law treads on federal authority, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer took to Twitter to ask for money to help her state fend off the suit.
"We will be very aggressive in defending our law. Donate to help keep AZ safe," she tweeted, later adding that "I will not stop fighting. I will defend AZ and continue to do the job Obama refuses to do."
In her tweets, Brewer included a link to a state government page where individuals can donate via credit card to the Border Security and Immigration Legal Defense fund. The page suggests of between $20 to $1,000.
"The law mirrors federal law, so if the feds aren't going to do their job, then Arizona's going to step up and do it," Brewer said, calling the lawsuit a waste of taxpayer money.
But Justice Department lawyers said Arizona's law ignored "humanitarian concerns" and would "cause the detention and harassment of authorized visitors, immigrants and citizens who do not have or carry identification documents."
Our questions to you today: Do you agree with the Justice Department's lawsuit, and if not, are you donating to support Arizona's defense?
