Concerned About Preteens' Clothes? E-Mail

Aug. 9, 2001 -- Are low-cut jeans and tight miniskirts appropriate for 11-year-olds? Should preteens be showing off their bellybuttons?

This fall, retailers are marketing hot grown-up fashions — such as tight tops with provocative logos, midriff-baring pants and tight miniskirts — to preteens in the 8- to 12-year-old age group.

World News Tonight wants to talk to parents concerned about the clothes their preteen daughters wear, or want to wear.

Has back-to-school shopping been tough this year? Is your daughter asking you to buy provocative clothes? Do her friends' parents let them wear what they want?

Some schools — even elementary schools — have banned clothing that exposes the midriff, or shorts that are too short. Does your daughter's school enforce a dress code?

If you are interested in speaking with ABCNEWS, please tell us about your experiences. Please provide your name, your location, your daughter's age and a daytime phone number where we can reach you.
