Brad Paisley to headline drive-in concert series with Darius Rucker, Nelly and more
The drive-in concert experience will take place July 10-12.
Country music lovers are in for a treat this July.
Brad Paisley will headline Live Nation's upcoming drive-in concert series with several other artists including Darius Rucker, Nelly, Jon Pardi, El Monstero and Yacht Rock Revue.
The nine shows in the "LIVE FROM THE DRIVE-IN" experience will take place at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Missouri, the Ruoff Music Center, an outdoor amphitheater, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Each ticket -- which will account for one car with a maximum of four people in it -- also gives fans their own "personal tailgate zone," which Live Nation says is about the size of a two-car garage.
Ticket holders can sit outside of their cars in lawn chairs to experience the artists' performances. They are encouraged to bring food and drinks for their tailgates and a menu will even be available for purchase at each concert.
There will also be designated space left around vehicles to help audience members uphold social distancing guidelines. Other safety measures include contactless ticket scanning through car windows and the requirement for all venue staff to wear masks.
Audience members are not required to wear masks in their tailgating zones but are encouraged to while using the restrooms available at each concert location.
"I’m very excited to do this because I wanted to make sure, if we were going to do anything like this, that they had the important stuff worked out," Paisley told The Associated Press. "My goal would be not to spread this virus to one person. There should be no spread from this. That’s key. I just don’t think it’s worth doing shows if we’re putting people at risk."
"The idea that we’re outdoors is a great thing," he added. "I just think it’s a fun way to watch a concert anyway. It’d be fun if there wasn’t a virus."
Tickets for the general public go on sale this Friday, June 26, at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com/DriveIn. Tom See, president of Live Nation Venues – US Concerts, told the AP that prices will vary by market but can potentially be as low as $125 per car.
Citi cardmembers can purchase presale tickets early, beginning Tuesday, June 23, until Thursday, June 25.
