Demi Lovato praises Bebe Rexha for speaking out against body shaming
Demi Lovato commended Bebe Rexha for speaking out against body shaming.
Demi Lovato recently joined the growing list of celebrities and fans commending singer Bebe Rexha for speaking out against body shaming.
After Rexha shared a video on Monday claiming that no designers were willing to dress her for the Grammy Awards next month because of her size, Lovato offered her support.
"F------ preach!!!" she commented. "Love this and you for speaking your mind and using your voice!!!"
In the post, Rexha expressed her disappointment that fashion designers were turning her away.
"So I finally get nominated at the Grammys and it's, like, the coolest thing ever," she said in the clip, which now has over 1 million views. "And a lot of times, artists will go and talk to designers and they'll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet, right?"
"I had my team hit [up] a lot of designers, and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I'm too big. Literally, like, I'm too big," she continued.
"If a size 6/8 is too big then... I dunno what to tell you. Then I don't wanna wear your f---ing dresses!" she added. "Cause that's crazy! 'Cause you're saying that all the women in the world that are a size eight and up are not beautiful, and they cannot wear your dresses!"
Along with Lovato, thousands of fans, Tyra Banks, the band Icona Pop, singer Ne-Yo, Adam Lambert and plus-size models Tess Holliday and Denise Bidot, also offered comments of support on the post.
Many designers also offered their services to the singer. August Getty Atelier commented, "You are beautiful! Every woman of every size is beautiful! Just let me know when I should start sketching."
Designer Christian Siriano also pointed out that he has dressed the singer before and would love to do so again.
The designer dressed her just last year for the MTV Video Music Awards in August.
Designer Sherri Hill also said the brand would love to dress Rexha and invited the singer to the label's New York Fashion Week show.
Charbel Zoe, a couture brand favored by the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani, also shared a supportive comment and an offer to dress Rexha.
"You represent the majority of women with your body. Be proud of that! I am sure you will look stunning in my designs! I am here for you!" the brand commented.
Designer Tanya Taylor added, “Bebe — we would LOVE to design something custom for you!! Can we discuss?? Xx”
Actress Mayim Bialik tagged a stylist, Adena Rohatiner, and said that she, "has no problem dressing my size 8 a--."
"I'm sure she'd love to hear from you. Sending you a size 8 hug," Bialik added.
