Hilary Duff and 'Lizzie McGuire' costars reunite for virtual table read

The cast of "Lizzie McGuire" reunited for a virtual table read to raise spirits -- and funds for charity -- during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Hilary Duff, who starred in the series during its 2001-2004 run on the Disney Channel, shared the footage in an Instagram post Monday. The actress noted in the caption that it marked the first time the group had been "all 'together-ish' in almost 18 years!"
"I got the most amazing phone call last week from Jake Thomas who played my brother Matt on 'Lizzie McGuire,' and he threw out having a virtual table read of one of our old episodes," Duff said in the video. "I thought, 'There's no better way to cure boredom and to provide a little bit of entertainment for everyone that's stuck at home."
The cast read from the first-season episode, "Between a Rock and a Bra Place."
Duff also solicited donations to charities including Frontline Responders, No Kid Hungry, Baby2Baby, Support + Feed, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, and the Food Bank For New York.
"Lizzie McGuire" starred a teenage Duff as a 13-year-old navigating junior high school. Last August, Disney announced that "Lizzie McGuire" would return as a new series on its streaming service, Disney Plus, and feature Duff playing an adult Lizzie. Production on that series has reportedly stalled.
Disney is the parent company of ABC News.
