John Callahan's ex-wife Eva LaRue adopts his dog after the actor's death
"She was John’s baby...I know she'll be just what God ordered to help us heal."
Eva LaRue is honoring her late ex-husband John Callahan after his death last month.
The actress, who shares 18-year-old daughter Kaya with her former "All My Children" co-star, announced she is adopting his dog, Cali.
"Welcome to the family Cali! Wasn’t looking to add another thing that poops to the household, but she was John’s baby, and I know she’ll be just what God ordered to help us heal and vice versa," LaRue wrote in an Instagram post.
*Rest peacefully John, I promise she’s in good hands," she continued, adding the hashtags, "#johnsbestfriend" and "#matchmadeinheaven" to the post.
LaRue revealed Callahan's death in a touching tribute post last month. She did not disclose the cause of his death in the post.
"Your bigger than life, gregarious personality will leave a hole in our hearts forever," she wrote. "I hope Heaven has baseball and that your team always wins! The Yankees has just lost their biggest Fan."
She also shared a post featuring several images of the late actor throughout his life.
"Love knows not its depth till the hour of separation. Our hearts are broken," she captioned the post. "Thank you so much for all the love and support, you’ll never know how much it means to us."
