New Prince Louis birthday photos show 'Instagram versus reality'
Duchess Kate took the colorful photos of her son Louis.
Prince Louis, the youngest child of Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is turning 2.
To celebrate his birthday, the Cambridges shared several new photos of Louis, who was born 92 years and two days after his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who turned 94 on April 21.
The new photos show Louis, who was born April 23, 2018, making colorful hand print art with paint on his hands.
William and Kate also shared a photo that showed the reality of the art project, one that shows Louis with smudged paint all over his face.
The photos of Louis were taken earlier this month by Duchess Kate, according to Kensington Palace.
Kate also took a photo of Prince Louis that was shared by Clarence House to mark his birthday. In the photo, Louis receives a sweet hug from his grandfather, Prince Charles.
Louis and his two older siblings, Prince George, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 4, and William and Kate are staying at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk, following stay-at-home orders issued by the U.K. government because of the coronavirus pandemic.
William and Kate have been homeschooling George and Charlotte, who both attend Thomas's Battersea, a private school in London. The school switched to virtual learning last month, at the same time that U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered all schools in the country closed until further notice.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spoke to the BBC last week about what it's like to have all three kids at home full-time while schools are closed.
"Yeah, homeschooling is fun," William said with a laugh.
"But don’t tell the children we’ve actually kept it going through the holidays," Kate added, referring to school holidays in the U.K. "I feel very mean."
"The children have got such stamina, I don’t know how, honestly," she said. "You get to the end of the day, you write down all the list of the things you’ve done in that day. You sort of pitch a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake, you get to the end of the day, they’ve had a lovely time, but it is amazing how much you can cram into one day, that’s for sure."
Last month, William and Kate shared a video of George, Charlotte and Louis cheering for the health care workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.
