Princesses Kate, Charlotte twin in silver floral headpieces at coronation
It was a matching moment for the royal mother-daughter duo!
For the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla Saturday, Catherine, the Princess of Wales and her daughter, Charlotte, donned special outfits for the once-in-a-generation occasion.
Princess Kate took what some royal watchers described as a toned-down approach by wearing a headpiece instead of a tiara.
The princess wore a floral headpiece with an ornamental silver braid, designed by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen. The headpiece features leaf embroidery and crystal and silver thread work as well.
Kate also wore an ivory silk crepe dress and cape from Alexander McQueen that features floral motifs of daffodils, roses, shamrocks and thistles, symbolizing the four countries that make up the United Kingdom. She completed her look with diamond-and-pearl earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana, and the George VI festoon necklace, which was created in 1950 at the request of King George VI for his daughter, then-Princess Elizabeth.
Princess Charlotte, who just turned 8 Tuesday, wore a floral headpiece, also by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen, which included a silver braid and crystal and silver thread work too.
Charlotte and her younger brother, Prince Louis, 5, sat with their parents in the first row during the coronation service at Westminster Abbey.
Their older brother, Prince George, 9, served as one of the four Pages of Honor for King Charles, alongside Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Master Nicholas Barclay and Master Ralph Tollemache.
