Shannen Doherty calls out Hollywood's botox obsession: 'I want to see more women like me'

She said there were "few female characters" she could relate to.

Actress Shannen Doherty is giving her honest feedback about the female talent she sees on screen nowadays.

The "Charmed" alum, who is 50, opened up to fans about feeling disheartened after watching movies over the weekend. In an Instagram post, she said she was having a hard time relating to the female characters on screen because of what she feels is Hollywood's obsession with making actresses appear younger.

"Watching movies tonight and noticed there were few female characters I could relate to," Doherty explained in the caption of her makeup free and un-touched selfie. "You know, women without fillers, without Botox, without a facelift. Women who embraced their face and all the experience it showed."

The actress, who is battling stage 4 breast cancer, continued, "I have lived. I love that I’ve lived and that my face reflects my life. I survived a lot yes cancer but more than that. I embrace me now. Finally."

The "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum is hoping that her fans and her fellow actresses will follow her lead and do the same.

"Done with the perception magazines and Hollywood try to make us in to," she said. "I want to see women like me. Women like us."

Several of Doherty's famous friends took to the comment section to applaud her honesty, including Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair.

"Just thinking time I fixed my face. Hahahah," Blair commented. "I got the same adult face as you. Hard to sit in my hands. Haha. Love you beautiful."
