Will Smith recreates childhood photo for son Trey's birthday
"I love you, T-Ball," Smith wrote in a message to his son. "Happy Bday!"
Will Smith shared a hilarious birthday tribute for his son Trey Smith's 28th birthday on Wednesday.
The actor, 52, posted two photos of himself with his son -- one of the duo from years ago and the other a more recent recreation of the older image.
"What has 6 legs and just turned 28? —- One of my favorite people on Earth 🌍 standing on a chair," Smith captioned his post. "I love you, T-Ball. Happy Bday! @treysmith0011"
Trey is Will Smith's son with his first wife, Sheree Zampino. They divorced in 1995 after a three-year marriage. Will Smith also has two children, Jaden, 22, Willow, 20, with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who he married in 1997.
Pinkett Smith also shared a birthday message for her stepson. "To my one and only bonus and better yet the best bonus I have EVER received. Happy Birthday my dearest Trey. I love you♥️✨" she wrote.
In 2018, Will Smith opened up on his relationship with Trey in an emotional video taken while the pair was visiting Abu Dhabi together.
"So I’m in Abu Dhabi at the F1. I brought my son, Trey," Smith said in the video. "We been hanging and usually I take my kids separately on stuff just so they have their individual daddy time."
"So we been doing this -- me and him -- we hanging at the F1, and he just hit me with, 'You know what, dad? I just realized you’re not just my dad.' He paused and he said, 'I’m pretty sure you’re my best friend.'"
The admission made the actor extremely emotional. He provided more details on their relationship in the caption of the post.
"It has not always been like this between Trey & I," he wrote. "We STRUGGLED FOR YEARS after my Divorce from his Mother. He felt betrayed & abandoned. It is a Wild Blessing to recover & restore a Loving Relationship with My Beautiful Son!"
