Summer food savings: Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven, new value meals and discounts

Get ready for a summer of savings with food companies dishing out deals, discounts, and freebies on popular menu items.
McDonald's and Burger King now offer dueling $5 meal bundles in an effort to drive customer retention, and other fast food competitors -- plus chain restaurants and even grocery services -- are plating up seasonally timed promotions to entice eaters as well.
Here's a snapshot of spots offering up summer savings.
Free Slurpees and other savings at 7-Eleven
On Thursday July 11, the convenience store chain will celebrate National Slurpee Day by giving away the iconic frozen drinks to customers for free.
To beat the summer heat and snag this freebie, customers can visit any participating 7-Eleven, Speedway or Stripes location to get one small Slurpee free of charge.
7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members can also scan their information to receive a digital coupon for another free small Slurpee from July 12 through July 31.
Plus, this year's special edition Slrupee drink cups for the celebrations were made with the store's longtime charity partner, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, designed by CMN Hospitals National Champion, Nolan.
Sonic steps into value menu arena
Sonic launched a new $1.99 menu with an array of items, each for just $1.99, all day, every day.
The menu, nicknamed the FUN.99 Menu, includes Queso Wraps, a Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger, Chili Cheese Coney, Small Tots, and any of the 12 flavors of Sonic Shakes in a 16-ounce size.
Plus, all Sonic drinks and slushes are half-price for customers who order in the Sonic App.
Save at Round Table Pizza this 4th of July
The pizza chain is offering two deals this Fourth of July. When ordering any large or extra large pizza, customers will get $5 off. Plus, get $20 off orders of $150 or more.
Free delivery and other discounts at KFC
The Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food chain recently added a new flavor to its saucy nuggets summer lineup and has rolled out everyday deals for more seasonal savings.
Customers can order a 10-piece order of Saucy Nuggets for just $5.99, which come in Honey BBQ, Korean BBQ, and Honey Sriracha.
The fast food chain has also extended its $10 Tuesdays deal, when customers can order a bucket full of eight pieces of chicken -- drums and thighs -- for just 10 bucks.
Plus, new this summer taking aim at fried chicken competitors who are closed on Sundays, KFC will offer free delivery on orders made online or via their app.
Free doughnuts and coffee at Krispy Kreme throughout July
Starting July 9, Krispy Kreme will treat its rewards members to a free doughnut from its popular Kit Kat collection, which is returning for one week only.
Rewards members’ free doughnuts for Tuesday July 16, 23 and 30 are surprises and will be revealed online and on social media.
Starbucks new pairing menu, $6 breakfast combo
The popular Seattle-based coffee chain introduced a new drink and breakfast combo starting at just $5.
Customers can order any tall, 12-ounce iced or hot coffee or tea with a butter croissant for $5, or upgrade to any savory breakfast sandwich -- sausage, cheddar and egg sandwich; bacon, gouda and egg sandwich; turkey bacon, cheddar and egg white sandwich; or chicken, maple butter and egg sandwich -- for $6.
Plus, customers can opt for a larger beverage size, or customize the beverage or food, in each pairing for an additional charge.
Burger King $5 value meal
The Miami-based burger chain confirmed last month to ABC News that it was accelerating value offers with its $5 Your Way deal launching in June.
The deal includes a choice of one of three sandwiches, a Whopper Jr., Chicken Jr. or Bacon Cheeseburger, with chicken nuggets, fries and a soft drink for just $5.
McDonald's $5 value meal
The Golden Arches will soon roll out its new bundle offer that includes four items: a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries, small soft drink and a four-piece Chicken McNuggets for just $5, starting later this month on June 25 for a limited time.
Wendy's new value menu
Wendy's recently launched a $3 English muffin meal combo on its breakfast menu that comes with a small portion of seasoned potatoes and choice of either a bacon, egg, and cheese English muffin sandwich or a sausage, egg and cheese English muffin sandwich.
Plus, the fast food chain has another longstanding value offer, the $5 Biggie Bag -- a meal deal that includes a choice of one of three sandwiches, spicy or classic chicken nuggets, fries, and a small soft drink.
