Why Dan Levy wore a neck brace during final season of 'Schitt's Creek'
"The anxiety in my neck was so bad I couldn't move it," he told British GQ.
"Schitt's Creek" star Dan Levy revealed stress and anxiety led him to wear a neck brace during the show's sixth season.
The Canadian actor not only created the show alongside his father, Eugene Levy, he also wrote, directed and starred in it as well.
Although the show enjoyed six successful seasons, Dan said juggling all those responsibilities over the years began to physically manifest into almost crippling anxiety, which is why he said he had to wear a neck brace when filming the final episodes.
"The anxiety in my neck was so bad I couldn't move it," he recalled during an interview with British GQ.
"At one point there was an acupuncturist and a chiropractor coming to set every day at lunch to work on my neck so that I could actually perform and not, you know, look like I needed a neck brace," he shared.
He said his responsibilities from the show also impacted his sleep schedule, admitting some weeks he "didn’t sleep more than eight hours."
"The more we built the show, the more proud of it I was," he told the outlet. "And the more I wanted to create more compelling and dimensional stories, the more we wanted to expand our world..."
"Schitt's Creek" ran for a total of six seasons from 2015 until 2020 and earned nine Emmys.
