Kelly Clarkson sings the national anthem for NASA's SpaceX launch
She performed virtually from her home.
Though she may not have been physically present, Kelly Clarkson lent her voice for a truly out-of-this-world event.
The original "American Idol" winner, 38, performed the national anthem Monday ahead of NASA's launch of SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, she belted out the iconic lyrics virtually from her home.
This special event is the first crewed space mission to be launched from U.S. soil since 2011. Launch will take place at approximately 4:33 p.m. ET. Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley are the two veteran astronauts headed to the International Space Station.
Pre-launch coverage, including Clarkson's performance, is airing live on SpaceX's website, NASA Television and the agency’s website, as well as numerous other platforms including ABC News.
