Lionel Richie drops hint about possible movie musical with his greatest hits
"Big things in the works!" the singer tweeted.
Lionel Richie recently hinted that his songs will do more than "Dancing on the Ceiling" -- they may play on a theater screen.
The singer responded to a Variety report claiming that Walt Disney Studios is developing an original movie musical based on his vast catalog of hits. "Big things in the works!," Richie tweeted on Wednesday.
The report states the musical is tentatively titled "All Night Long," and will be live action, rather than animated. Richie and his manager will reportedly be co-producers on the film, and the script is being written by Pete Chiarelli, who wrote "Crazy Rich Asians" and "The Proposal."
The idea was actually Richie's, according to Variety. The "American Idol" judge reportedly pitched it to Walt Disney Studios back in January.
Earlier this year, another pop star with a string of hits, Bruno Mars, announced that he'd be collaborating with Disney on a movie he'd both star in and write original music for.
Walt Disney Studios has not confirmed a musical based on Richie's songs.
Disney is the parent company of ABC News and "Good Morning America."
