Mariah Carey Opens Up About Her Rumored Feud with Jennifer Lopez

— -- Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez may not be friends but they're not exactly enemies either.

Carey tried to clear up the ongoing confusion about the state of their relationship during an appearance Tuesday on "Watch What Happens Live." Rumors of a feud have swirled around the two stars since the early 2000s, when a reporter asked Carey about Lopez and she replied, "I don't know her."

"That was so long ago," Carey told host Andy Cohen. "I can't believe people still make such a big deal out of it."

It doesn't help that Lopez told Wendy Williams in March that Carey is "forgetful, I guess. We've met many times."

Carey alluded to Lopez's quip Tuesday when she told Cohen, "You know what, I'm very forgetful. Apparently, I'm forgetful."

The diva then explained, "It wasn't like I don't know who she is -- of course I do. That's not the question."

Carey, 46, added: "The question was about Beyoncé and I was saying I think she's super talented. She's a friend of mine. She's always been sweet to me. She's always been very cool and then they asked me another question [about Lopez]."

When Cohen pressed Carey on whether J. Lo, also 46, seemed "cool," Carey was speechless at first.

"I don't know her," she repeated. "What am I supposed to say? I'm not going to put on a thing like we're all Hollywood and let's pretend we're best friends."

The recently engaged singer will be starring in an eight-part documentary series called "Mariah’s World" that will follow her as she goes on tour in Europe and South Africa and plans her wedding to Australian billionaire James Packer.
