Charlotte Set to Toast 'Sex and the City' Movie

Nov. 13, 2006 — -- The on-again, off-again "Sex and the City" movie is so close to a green light, Kristin Davis can almost taste the next round of cosmos.

"I know there are rumors," says Davis, 41, who says she'd be eager to once again play the marriage-minded Charlotte York. "If it happened, I would be the happiest person ever on the planet."

The big screen reunion for TV's most promiscuous gal pals has been brewing since the show signed off in 2004. But the project reportedly stalled amid a longstanding conflict between Sara Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall.

Now, HBO is in negotiations with the cast and executive producer Michael Patrick King.

"We always thought a 'Sex and the City' movie was a great idea," a rep for the cable network told Entertainment Weekly. "We would love to make it happen."

Davis is currently promoting "Deck the Halls," a holiday comedy that features Parker's husband, Matthew Broderick. She says she's trying to temper her enthusiasm because the "Sex and the City" plans have fallen through before, but she's nonetheless raring to go.

No word yet on how the proposed movie would advance the show.

When "Sex and the City" signed off, Carrie had returned to New York from Paris, to rekindle her relationship with Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Charlotte (Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) had settled into long-term relationships, while Samantha (Cattrall) resumed her outrageous life after a bout with breast cancer.

"I don't want to disappoint anybody," Davis says. "It has been rumored before and our fans are so great to us. I've traveled a lot since we've had time off, and people around the world love our show. It's amazing.

"So, I don't want to tease anybody, And, therefore, I'm more closed-mouthed than I might be."
