Is Ghalib Under Attack or Attention-Starved?
A report claims Adnan Ghalib was knifed and is receiving death threats.
April 15, 2008 — -- Is Britney Spears' on again-off again paparazzo boyfriend under attack?
According to a blog posted Sunday on the Web site of photo agency JFX, Adnan Ghalib was stabbed Saturday night and has been receiving death threats.
"Adnan was attacked and stabbed last night, but he is doing OK after receiving medical attention for his wounds," the post reads. "He received a stab wound to his arm, facial lacerations as well as a nice shiner. I'm not sure what to make of this considering that he's received more and more death threats in recent weeks. Is it coincidence? I don't know. But in the ever-growing Adnan-hating world that some blogs live in, the repeated venom spewed at him could have finally boiled over to the real world. … Hopefully, the attackers will be found and brought to justice."
It's not clear who wrote the post. Asked to elaborate on the attack, a representative for JFX said, "I cannot comment at this time." Ghalib's employer, FinalPixx, did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
While Ghalib could have been knifed anywhere, it's presumed he would've been targeted in or around Los Angeles, where he lives, works and was spotted with comedian Kathy Griffin last Thursday. A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department said it had "no knowledge of a report" filed about the attack. Representatives for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the Beverly Hills Police Department also said they had no records of the attack.
With little public evidence to back up the incident, some wonder if Ghalib just wants a little love from the press -- or Spears.
"It would not surprise me if these death threats weren't real," said E! online gossip columnist Ted Casablanca. "Maybe he wants to get back together. Maybe he's hoping she'll see this and come running, saying, 'Oh baby!' It's such a skanky situation."
While Ghalib was a gossip fixture when he was trotting around town with Spears earlier this year, he has been largely out of the headlines in recent weeks (save that shopping trip with Griffin that itself looked like a publicity stunt). If Ghalib fabricated the attack, it wouldn't be the first time a person the public once followed claimed assault under false pretenses.
