Watch 'Dancing With the Stars' Pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd Go Undercover in Class
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd showed a different side of themselves.
— -- Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are known to the world as fast-trotting pros on “Dancing With the Stars,” but when the pair went undercover in a New York City dance class, all bets were off.
In order to disguise themselves as undercover agents, Chmerkovskiy, 35, added gray to his beard and put a pad under his shirt to give him a belly, while Murgatroyd, 29, appeared unrecognizable in a short, dark wig and loose t-shirt.
The pair went undercover in a class at New York’s Steps on Broadway dance studio and said they felt the heat almost immediately.
“I noticed the stares,” said Chmerkovskiy.
“I was trying not to laugh at the people who were laughing at me,” said Murgatroyd. “It was kind of hard to be off beat actually.”
After 40 minutes of being off their dancing game, the pair revealed themselves to their fellow classmates as the pros they are.
“I was so surprised,” said one student.
“It was everything,” she said. “My mom is going to freak because she watches [‘Dancing With the Stars’].”
Murgatroyd, for one, had a mixed reaction to the experience.
“I was half embarrassed, half having the time of my life,” she said.
"Dancing with the Stars" airs on ABC.
