David Hasselhoff Talks 'Baywatch' Movie, New TV Mockumentary

— -- He has saved lives on “Baywatch,” and David Hasselhoff is now returning to television with a new show, “Hoff the Record,” which is a mockumentary in which he plays a character who's story is loosely based on his own life.

“It almost became therapy because all the stuff that was written about me before all the times when I got some seriously bad press for, like, doing something at home—I was able to address that through comedy,” Hasselhoff, 63, told Lara Spencer of “Good Morning America.”

“I remember once reading a headline: ‘Can you embarrass this man?’” he said, laughing. “No, you can’t.”

As for his other upcoming project, Hasselhoff said he enjoyed his time on the set of the movie reboot of the iconic TV series "Baywatch" with co-stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron.

"It was a lot of fun. I had to get into pretty good shape because you stand next to The Rock; Rock is like a man-and-a-half and Zac is like right behind him," Hasselhoff said. "So I went into the gym and pumped a little bit, but the best part about it was they were extremely nice.” They gave me the respect of the guy who created the role and they were lovely people.

“My daughter has always said, ‘Dad, get in the game,’” he added. “’…get in the game because you can be watching it on television, or you can be in the game.’ So, I’m in the game.”

“Hoff the Record” premieres Thursday on Access TV.
