LONDON—Mitt Romney spent his final night in London attending the Olympic opening ceremony with his family, including his wife, Ann, his brother, Scott and son, Tagg.

His visit comes after days of controversy here over his comment to NBC News that he found London's preparations for the games "disconcerting." Romney later clarified his statement, saying "London is ready."

While the British media continued to pound Romney for his earlier statement right up until his final hours here, at least one local official seemed to accept Romney's latest assessment.

In an interview on Sky News, London Mayor Boris Johnson, who had mocked Romney at a major pre-Olympic rally here, said he was happy the GOP candidate had "abundantly clarified" his remark.

Romney heads to Israel Saturday, the second country on his week-long overseas tour.
